Rondalla ensemble

Philippine plectrum instruments adapted from the European mandolin. The Philippine Rondalla consists of the bandurria, laud, octavina, mandola, guitara, and bajo de uñas (supplanted today by the regular double bass).

Gangsa (Northern luzon)

A single handed smooth surfaced gong with a narrow rim. A set of gangsa are played by one player at a time. The number of gangsa used in the ensemble varies from one particular ethnic group to the other.

kulintang ensemble

The traditional kulintang ensemble consists of the knobbed gong sets: 8-10 kulintang gongs, 4 gandingan gongs, babandil, and dabakan drum. Other supplement instruments such as the bamboo xylophone called gabbang, as well as other instruments from throughout Mindanao are used.
